Scholar is the new fungicide for control of post-harvest diseases in stone fruits. While there are other fungicides registered for post-harvest use on stone fruit, none exhibit the level of control that Scholar offers.
Scholar represents a new class of chemistry, phenylpyrrole, which is markedly different from any fungicide ever used on post-harvest stone fruit. Scholar controls post-harvest diseases, provides superior disease control at considerably lower rates, greatly extends fruit shelf life, and possesses an excellent safety profile (the EPA has designated Scholar as a reduced-risk product).
Containing the active ingredient fludioxonil, Scholar is highly effective against three of the most troublesome diseases in post-harvest stone fruit – brown rot, gray mold and Rhizopus rot. It also is the only registered fungicide to control Gilbertella rot, making it one of the most broad-spectrum fungicides ever developed for post-harvest use.
Scholar is compatible with all application systems, including T-Jet, control droplet and similar application systems. It also has excellent compatibility with post-harvest waxes used in packing stone fruit. Scholar is non-systemic and has excellent protective and contact activity against all major stone fruit diseases. It uses extremely low rates compared to other fungicides – only 8-16 ounces of active ingredient are required to treat 200,000 pounds of harvested fruit (25,000 pounds of cherries).
Product Highlights:
New generation of chemistry with a long lasting residual that has a unique mode of action, which prevents fungi respiration
Provides outstanding broad spectrum activity on all major post-harvest diseases
Has set new industry standards for disease control (decay losses ≤1%)
Low use rate (8-16 ounces to control 200,000 pounds of harvested fruit; 25,000 pounds of cherries) and has a superior safety profile – designated a reduced-risk product
Application flexibility – can be applied with T-Jet, control droplet or similar systems
